Roma to Win

Reason for tip

Roma, who have won their last eight home games against Lecce, have won both of their home games against bottom-half clubs this season while Lecce have lost five of their seven away Serie A matches this term and failed to score in six of them.

Roma 2-0

Reason for tip

Lecce have failed to score in six of their seven away league games while Roma have kept clean sheets in three of their last six home Serie A matches. The Giallorossi could have had a couple of goals against Atalanta on Monday and did score twice in a recent 3-2 home defeat to Bologna so a 2-0 correct score is preferred.

Roma rue missed chances against Atalanta

Roma should return to winning ways this weekend when they host struggling Lecce at Stadio Olimpico after bad luck and poor finishing cost them in Monday’s defeat to Atalanta.

That 2-0 setback was Roma’s fourth Serie A defeat in a row and Atalanta’s eighth consecutive win in all competitions, but there was little between the two sides on the night.

Artem Dovbyk and Gianluca Mancini both missed better chances than the ones that led to Atalanta’s goals with the visitors’ first coming from a wicked deflection that left the goalkeeper stranded.

Lecce’s lack of goals looks bleak

Roma, bar that late equaliser at Tottenham recently, have just not been getting the rub of the green in games of late. That could change when they host relegation-threatened Lecce, who salvaged a 1-1 draw at home to Juventus last weekend thanks to Ante Rebic’s stoppage-time equaliser.

Juventus hit the woodwork twice in the first half of that game, so it could be said that Lecce rode their luck but no one could deny them a point after their stirring second-half effort.

Unfortunately for Lecce, they now head to an unhappy hunting ground in Rome where they have lost on each of the last eight trips. Marco Giampaolo’s men have also scored only once in seven Serie A away gams this season, so expectations of a result should be low.
