Rosenborg vs Mjondalen Predictions

With the football in the major leagues around Europe either already finished or in its final few matches, the smaller leagues across the continent get the opportunity to take centre stage. This Sunday sees clashes in the early stages of Norway’s Eliteserien take place and at the Lerkendal Stadion we see a Rosenborg side who will be hoping that they can find their form as they face off against newly promoted Mjøndalen.

With 26 league titles to their name, it is without question that Rosenborg are one of the biggest clubs in Norwegian football, but with no league title since 2016, there are concerns that they are being left behind by their rivals at the moment. It is not as if the hosts have been showing that they’re in with a shout of contesting for the league title this season either, as they are currently second from bottom in the division with just six points from their eight outings so far. A major reason for their lack of form has been down to their inability to find the back of the net and they come into this match having only managed to score four times this season.

Making the trip to the Lerkendal Stadium is a Mjøndalen side who will be enjoying their time in Norway’s top division and following a pretty solid start to the campaign, they will feel confident that a return to the lower leagues is not on the cards. The visitors have proven to be pretty hard to beat so far this season and only the current league leaders have managed to earn all three points against them in the last seven matches.

The hosts may well be expecting to win against a club much smaller in stature, but their form this season has left a lot to be desired. If they are to start improving their fortunes then they will need to start finding the back of the net on a regular basis, and a more attacking style of football may just leave them open at the back. With this in mind, we think that backing both teams to score represents the best chance of a decent return.
