Rotherham vs Aston Villa Predictions

While the champions-elect keep winning, Aston Villa come storming in behind them in the form table. The Villains are the second-placed side in the form table, only beaten by a Norwich side who have won eight on the spin. The visitors have won their last six games, while they head to Rotherham this week aiming to make it seven. Can they continue their playoff push with another win in this visit to the New York Stadium?

The hosts have ambitions of their own, as they remain in the bottom three. Even their 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend couldn’t get them clear of the drop zone. The Millers are a point shy of survival with six games to go, so they need to keep winning at home to keep themselves in the fight. There are only two points between them and the three sides above them, so there’s every chance that Rotherham could stay up.

Aston Villa’s fine run has pushed them into sixth, which has got them pushing for the Premier League. The Villains have certainly got the momentum, which they’ll be looking to take into the post-season clashes. They have to be seen as a huge threat in the playoffs, especially with the side now firing on all cylinders. They should fancy themselves against most of the top six, so facing a relegation candidate should be straightforward.

Villa come here having scored 16 times across their last six, with Jack Grealish’s return helping their attack to truly click. They’ve scored in their last seven matches, while this weekend brings them up against a Rotherham side who have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 14 matches at their own ground. No team in the division has conceded more goals than Rotherham this season (68), while only two teams – Norwich and West Brom – have scored more than Villa’s total of 73.

The only problem for Villa is that they are leaking goals too. They’ve won 3-1 in back to back away games, conceding in three-quarters of their matches on the road. They meet a Rotherham side who have scored in their last eight home games. The hosts have failed to score here against just two teams so far, while they’ve seen at least three goals in eight of their last nine home games. With Rotherham seeing both teams score in 75% of their home games, we think BTTS is a decent bet going into this clash.
