Rotherham vs Oxford United Predictions

  • Rotherham have lost four of their last five League One matches
  • The Millers have scored once in their last five matches
  • Oxford have bounced back to form with consecutive league wins

The Millers season has run out of puff

Rotherham are really faltering in the dying stages of the League One season. The Millers have lost four of their last five matches, conceding nine and scoring just once in that period. Rotherham put in a terrible performance against Burton in midweek and fell to a 2-0 defeat. That defeat came against a Burton side that were not only winless in their five previous matches but the two goals they put past Rotherham was the first time they had scored in April. To add injury to insult, quite literally, Shane Ferguson and Daniel Barlaser went off injured on Tuesday and are extremely doubtful for Saturday’s game. Confidence must be at an all-time low in The Millers camp

Oxford have turned a corner

In complete contrast to their hosts on Saturday, Oxford have turned a corner in the last week. Karl Robinson’s side ended a three-match losing run by recording back-to-back victories against Fleetwood and MK Dons. Robinson would have been particularly pleased with midweeks win over MK Dons, not only did he get one over his former club, but it keeps his current employers in the hunt for a play-off place with just two games to go. Oxford are now two points outside the top six and must really win their two remaining games to give themselves a chance of securing a place in the League One play-offs.

Oxford look overpriced in this one in what is a must win game for both sides. Rotherham’s confidence must be shot to pieces, and I will be siding with the visitors here, to win in the outright market.  Rotherham have failed to score in four of their last five matches, and in the correct score market I will chance Oxford making it two cleans sheets on the spin and side with a 2-0 away win.
