San Diego and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored with over 2.5 goals in four of San Diego’s last six matches and in four of Houston’s last six matches. San Diego are in much better form, having won four in a row while Houston have lost three of their last four, so the hosts can take the points.

San Diego 3-2

Reason for tip

San Diego have scored an average of two goals per game this season, but that has gone up to 3.5 over the last month. They can bag three against a Houston side that have shipped exactly three goals in three of their last four road games. Houston can make things interesting with a couple of goals of their own, taking advantage of San Diego’s injuries to make them sweat for a 3-2 win.

San Diego vs Houston Dynamo Predictions

  • Both teams have scored with over 2.5 goals in four of San Diego’s last six matches
  •  Both teams have scored with over 2.5 goals in four of Houston’s last six matches
  • San Diego have won four in a  row while Houston have lost three of their last four

Californians on a roll

San Diego’s superb debut campaign in MLS should continue to provide plenty of entertainment when they face Houston Dynamo at Snapdragon Stadium on Sunday.

Mikey Varas’ men have won four in a row to surge past Vancouver Whitecaps to the top of the Western Conference and, if they can overcome a minor mid-season injury crisis, they could be good enough to stay there.

San Diego’s recent games have been pretty wild affairs with the Southern California side having won by scores of 3-2, 5-3 and 4-2 in their last three. That includes wins over the second-placed Whitecaps and a good Minnesota side.

Dynamo should beware Danish dynamite

In truth, they should have too much for Houston, who were beaten 3-1 by Minnesota less than a fortnight ago. But this clash could be a classic trap game for a team dealing with injuries and potentially eyeing bigger tests to come.

Houston halted a three-game losing streak with a 1-0 home win over a poor St Louis City side, so they should have renewed belief. There have been lots of goals in their recent road trips too, where three of their last four featuring four or more suggests the over 3.5 goals bet could be on here too.

But backing San Diego to win with both teams scoring looks a better play at the odds. Varas’ side have momentum, good team cohesion and a game-breaking player in the shape of winger Anders Dreyer. The Dane has contributed nine goals and 12 assists in 20 MLS appearances this term and can make his mark again.
