San Jose Earthquakes vs DC United Predictions

San Jose Earthquakes did their usual trick last season, just about edging a MLS Playoff spot before being eliminated in the play in round once again. We are only ten games into the 2018 campaign, but I wouldn’t rule out the exact same happening again this year.

They managed to get a 2-2 draw at Vancouver Whitecaps in midweek to follow on from their 3-1 win against Minnesota United, but prior to that they were winless in seven league games and had lost five of them. This puts San Jose down in 10th position in the table, already some 13 points adrift of the top spot holders in the Western Conference.

The Earthquakes are actually one of the higher scoring sides in the Western Conference though. Their 17 goals is the 4th biggest tally in the conference, but they have shipped 19 at the other end in just ten games, so it’s very clear where their problems lie. This is true at home as well as on the road, where they have won one, drawn one, and lost two of their four games and seen a total of 13 goals.

DC United aren’t looking like they have made any dramatic improvements either. They finished bottom of the Eastern Conference last term, and while they have only played eight games so far this year, they sit bottom of the table again. Of course, their summer stadium opening does mean that all but two of their games so far have been played away from home, but a return of five points from a possible 24 is still a poor showing.

The fact that just one of their points has come from their  six away games is a worry too, especially when you realise that they have another six trips away to navigate before their new stadium opens.

Just like San Jose, DC United’s problems arise at the back. They have shipped 14 goals in their six trips away in total, scoring seven at the other end to make for some entertaining viewing. Four of these six matches have seen at least three goals, and with Earthquakes seeing three or more scored in three of their four home games we like the look of Over 2.5 Goals, alongside a 2-2 correct score predictions.
