Sao Paulo vs Figueirense Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

With each passing week, the possibility that Sao Paulo could be dragged into an unlikely relegation battle seems to grow and grow. They’ve won just 1 of their last 9 league games and were beaten 2-1 at leaders Palmeiras in midweek. That was probably one of their better performances of late given the quality of the opposition but they got nothing to show for it and are now just 2 points above the relegation zone. Aside from games against the bottom two, who are in danger of being really cut adrift, they’ve not won in the league since June and new coach Ricardo Gomes has picked up just 2 points from 4 games and his new team are now 4 points behind his former one Botafogo.

This game is a bit of a six-pointer now with Figueirense only 1 point below Sao Paulo. They do come into this game in good spirits after a 1-0 home win against Atletico PR in midweek and they caused one of the shocks of the season only a couple of weeks ago when they won 1-0 at Santos, who boast an otherwise formidable home record. That result in particular must have given them confidence that they can get something here.

Figueirense have only lost 5 of their last 15 league games which is pretty good given where they are in the table. Only 1 team has drawn more games than them though but they’d probably take a point here. Sao Paulo have scored just twice in their 4 games under Gomes and there is nothing about them right now that suggests they should be as short as their current price of 1/2 to win this.

The visitors may not be a great side but they are getting a few results of late and backing Double Chance – Draw or Figueirense at 6/4 looks to offer real value here.
