Sevilla vs Arsenal Predictions
- Both teams have scored in five of Sevilla’s last six Champions League matches
- Sevilla are unbeaten in six home games
- Sevilla have drawn four of their last seven Champions League fixtures
Gunners may not have things all their own way
Arsenal have won one and lost one of their opening two Champions League games, having outclassed PSV in a 4-0 rout at the Emirates before falling victim to a 2-1 loss at Lens.
The Gunners remain unbeaten after nine games in the Premier League but they were held to a 2-2 draw at Chelsea on Saturday and may have to settle for a similar outcome in Seville.
Sevilla are renowned for being a force in Europe, having won the Europa League seven times since 2005, and they have shared the spoils in their opening two games of this season’s Champions League.
Diego Alonso’s side drew 1-1 at home to Lens and they then held PSV to 2-2 draw at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven, where they conceded an equaliser in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
In La Liga on Saturday, Sevilla frustrated Real Madrid in a 1-1 draw which means the hosts have shared the spoils in five of their last seven matches in all competitions.
So with Arsenal having failed to win in seven of their last 13 competitive away games, there is little incentive backing them at odds-on in what are going to be tough conditions.
Sevilla stubborn on home soil
The Spanish hosts are strong in familiar surroundings, where they are unbeaten in six games, although they have drawn four of their last seven Champions League games.
They are usually good for a goal and both teams have scored in five of Sevilla’s last six Champions League matches, which includes in a 3-1 defeat away at Manchester City last season.
With there having been three or more goals in seven of Arsenal’s last ten matches, there is every hope this can be an entertaining contest.
In Sevilla’s 11 games in all competitions this season, they have kept only two clean sheets and they came in La Liga against Las Palmas and Osasuna.
So with goals expected, both teams to score looks a sensible play and correct-score punters may want to opt for a 1-1 draw given Sevilla’s last three matches have been score draws.
