Plucky Harps can test champions 

Shamrock Rovers ended a run of three games without victory against Longford Town last time out but needed another late, late show to pick up a much-needed three points.

Rory Gaffney blasted a rebound home in the 96th minute to get the champions title defence back on the road and maintain only a one-point gap to Sligo Rovers.

Although they have been nowhere near their levels of last season, Stephen Bradley’s men certainly don’t lack belief as that was fourth time they had claimed victory in stoppage time this season.

The heart-stopping Hoops have also struck 89th and 88th-minute equalisers against St Pat’s and Sligo Rovers, respectively, to further demonstrate their never-say-die attitude.

Bradley will demand a much more authoritative display against inconsistent Finn Harps on Friday.

The Donegal side started the season brilliantly but have tailed off of late, picking up just eight points from the last 30 available.

Ollie Horgan returned from a three-game touchline ban to see his team lose to ten-man Sligo Rovers last time out, although they created enough chances to win.

Striker Tunde Owolabi was guilty of wasting some opportunities after grabbing their early equaliser and his pace could trouble the Rovers defence.

The Harps have been more effective on the road this season so we forecast a tough time for the champions here and an opportunity to make money on the +1.5 Asian Handicap .

Shamrock Rovers’ penchant for late goals may get them the three points here, but we’ll happily take them on in the knowledge that only three of their nine league wins have been by more than a goal.
