Sheffield United vs AFC Bournemouth Predictions
- Sheffield United have won eight of their last ten home league games (two draws).
- Bournemouth have lost two of their last three away Championship fixtures.
- Morgan Gibbs-White has scored four goals in Sheffield United’s last six home league games.
So-solid Blades crew can pick off Cherries
Sheffield United remain the toughest to beat on their own patch and should justify their odds-against price to beat Bournemouth at Bramall Lane on Saturday.
The Blades have won eight of their last ten at home, including against fellow promotion-chasers Luton, Blackburn, Middlesbrough and QPR. The Cherries may be second in the table right now, but Scott Parker’s team aren’t as consistent as they were when they last hit the summit at the turn of the year.
Bournemouth have lost four of their last eight games on the road, including two of the last three, and look open to another defeat here. There were more examples of sloppy defending in Wednesday’s loss at West Brom, which could be fatal if they are repeated against a side that are as good as anyone at the back in the division.
Bournemouth must beware Gibbs-White’s goal threat
Paul Heckingbottom’s side have conceded just two goals in their last 11 league games in south Yorkshire, a stat which speaks for itself, and it would be a shock to see their opponents score more than once in this contest.
Bournemouth remain among the Championship’s most potent away from home, with only six sides scoring more on their travels over the last ten road trips, so there is scope for a both teams to score bet here. But the Blades’ match odds are good enough to take here without trying to overcomplicate matters with a potential side bet of value being Morgan Gibbs-White to notch another goal.
The attacking midfielder, who scored on England under-21 duty recently, has been playing further forward of late and his goal tally has been boosted by four strikes in the Blades’ last six home games. Our correct score forecast of a 2-1 home win reflects Bournemouth’s goalscoring threat and the fact that United average 1.9 goals per game at home since November.
