Sheffield Wednesday vs Brentford Predictions
- Sheffield Wednesday are winless in 19 matches
- Brentford are unbeaten in six Premier League games, winning four times
- The Owls have failed to score in three straight outings
Overwhelmed Wednesday look out of their depth
Having failed to win a Championship fixture since September, crisis club Sheffield Wednesday have every right to be fearing the worst ahead of their FA Cup third-round tie against Premier League highfliers Brentford.
The Owls, not helped by a 12-point deduction, have been all-but relegated from the Championship as they find themselves 32 points adrift of safety and they are on a 19-game winless run.
Wednesday have lost eight of their last 11 league games and back-to-back 3-0 defeats away at Preston and Queen’s Park Rangers have not done their waning confidence any good.
Brilliant Bees should be in cruise control
Brentford, in stark contrast, are up to fifth in the Premier League on the back of a six-game unbeaten run and Wednesday’s emphatic 3-0 win at home to Sunderland was their fourth success in five.
Bees boss Keith Andrews is likely to ring the changes but that didn’t halt them from making the quarter-final of the EFL Cup and his fringe players impressed in that competition.
Brentford have kept three clean sheets in their last five Premier League outings and they should still be strong enough to shut out the out-of-form Owls, who have fired three blanks in their five most recent fixtures at Hillsborough.
The Londoners are scoring for fun – they have netted 13 times in their last five appearances – and they may be able to inflict a third straight 3-0 defeat on the hapless hosts.
