Sheffield Wednesday vs Crewe Predictions
- Sheffield Wednesday have won five of their last six home matches, and are unbeaten in their last seven games.
- Relegated Crewe, meanwhile, have lost 15 of their last 17 matches.
- The visitors have also failed to score in four of their last seven outings.
Wednesday look set to secure play-off spot
A run of seven games without defeat has fired Sheffield Wednesday into League One’s play-off places, and with two of their final four games of the campaign coming against bottom-four opponents, Darren Moore’s men will be confident of securing a top-six spot in style.
Tuesday’s home clash with relegated Crewe should represent a foregone conclusion, with the third tier’s bottom club losing a staggering 15 of their last 17 matches. Meanwhile, the Alex have failed to even score in four of their last seven matches, with their record of 35 goals in 43 games being one of the worst in the division.
Wednesday, on the other hand, come into this game on a high after beating MK Dons in a five-goal thriller on Saturday, and will be able to draw upon an excellent home record after winning five of their last six at Hillsborough. Moore’s side have picked up 47 points from their 21 home games, the joint-most in League One this term, and should face few problems dispatching their poor visitors.
Impotent Crewe will struggle to land a blow
Having averaged fewer than a concession per game on their own ground this season, the Owls should have little trouble recording a shutout win against one of the division’s worst attacking outfits, with Crewe losing five of their last seven on the road to nil.
Meanwhile, a repeat of Wednesday’s routine 2-0 win over the strugglers in December could represent a decent correct score prediction.
