Shelbourne -1

Reason for tip

Kalju were fortunate to overcome Linfield in the previous qualifying round and Shelbourne may be too big of a step up for the Estonian outfit. The Shels reached the league phase of this competition last season and with home advantage they can win with a bit of room to spare.

Shelbourne 2-0

Reason for tip

Shelbourne should win comfortably but they may have to settle for a 2-0 success. The Irish outfit aren’t prolific scorers and they haven’t scored more than twice in any of their last 13 games, but they should be able to deny the visitors a goal.

Shelbourne vs JK Nomme Kalju Predictions

  • Shelbourne have won three of their last five home games
  • The Shels reached the Conference League league phase last season
  • Kalju have won just one of their last five away games

Shels should overpower Kalju

Estonian outfit Nomme Kalju broke Linfield’s hearts in the previous qualifying round and now have a chance to take out another Irish side when they face Shelbourne.

The Shels have been in poor form in general but they should still be far too strong for Kalju.

The visitors were incredibly lucky to beat Linfield 1-0 in the first leg of their previous tie, and managed to progress thanks to a 2-2 draw in the second leg after Linfield had been reduced to 10-men in the first half.

Shelbourne may be out of sorts but the League of Ireland Premier Division is a stronger competition than its NIFL counterpart, and the Reds have been in reasonable form at home with three wins and just one defeat in their last six games, so they should be able to beat Kuljo with a bit of room to spare.

Shelbourne aren’t particularly prolific scorers and they have scored more than twice in any of their last 13 games, so a 2-0 success for Russell’s side could be the way to go in the correct score market.
