Much for Shrews to do to lift the gloom

The last two teams to have finished bottom of League One – Forest Green Rovers and Carlisle – have gone straight through to the National League the following season and priority for Shrewsbury has to be to avoid a similar fate.

The Shrews were 14 points adrift of safety in the third tier last term and there are no guarantees that they will get off to a winning start against Bromley upon their return to League Two on Saturday.

Of chief concern for the home side is that they won just five games on their own patch last season, winning just one of their final 17 outings overall and those are habits they may not be able to rectify overnight.

Bromley have found their feet

Bromley, on the other hand, should fancy their chances. They did well to consolidate their position last season as they finished 11th in the first EFL campaign, and the team who had the seventh best away record in the division last term can make a winning start.

With Shrewsbury desperate to lift the home fans immediately after last season’s disappointment, there could be a few goals, but the value looks to be with the visitors so take the Ravens to claim a 2-1 success.
