Shrewsbury vs Exeter City Predictions
- Exeter have picked up 10 points from their last four League One games.
- The Grecians have gone five games without conceding in all comps.
- Shrewsbury have just four points to show from five home games.
In-form Exeter can raid The New Meadow
Struggling Shrewsbury secured a much-needed 5-3 win at Crawley last time out but they face a stiffer test when promotion hopefuls Exeter visit the New Meadow on Thursday.
The Grecians will move up to fourth, temporarily at least, with all three points and the in-form visitors look well placed to come out on top in the first League One game of the next batch of fixtures.
The Devon outfit have 10 points to show from the last available 12 and they’ve picked up a few eye-catching wins on the road already this season, beating Bolton 2-0 and Leyton Orient 1-0. Their success has been built on a rock-solid back-line and they’ve gone five games without conceding across all competitions, and Shrewsbury’s attack may struggle to make any kind of breakthrough.
The Shrews won 5-3 at Crawley last time out but they scored four of those goals after the Reds had seen a man sent off early in the second half. Prior to that fixture, they had managed just eight goals in their opening 10 league assignments and they’ve scored just five in total in as many games at this venue.
As such, an Exeter win looks the best option for our main bet and a 2-0 win for the visitors is the correct score pick. The visitors have only managed a modest 10 goals in nine league games but the Salop defence has conceded at least twice in each of their last three league games, and Crawley managed to score twice after seeing a man sent off, so Exeter could win fairly comfortably.
The Grecians have shared the goals around a bit this season and none of their players have scored more than twice in the league. That makes picking out a scorer a tough ask but midfielder Kamari Doyle is a contender. Doyle should come back into the starting side after coming off the bench in the win over Cambridge, and the 21-year-old has put in a few big performances this term with goals against Bolton and Stevenage.
