      Slavia Prague vs Barcelona Predictions

Slavia Prague’s 2-0 aggregate win over CFR Cluj back in August saw them safely through to the Champions League group stages for the first time since 2007, but their time in the competition is likely to be shortlived.

The Czech side had the misfortune of being drawn in one of the toughest groups in the competition, and faced with the prospect of Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and Inter Milan, it’s likely we’ll see them footing Group F come matchday six in December.

That being said, Slavia Prague did manage to clinch a hard fought point away to Inter Milan in their first outing. Earlier this month they were put to the sword by Borussia Dortmund though, losing 2-0 on home soil to put an end to their excellent 25 match unbeaten streak in all competitions. The overwhelming opinion is that their most recent unbeaten streak won’t last past Wednesday night.

Barcelona may not have been at their scintillating best at times this season, but they still find themselves top of La Liga and level on points with Borussia Dortmund at the top of their Champions League group. With Dortmund facing off against Inter Milan, there’s a chance for Barcelona to move clear at the top of the group on Wednesday.

Saturday saw the La Liga giants thrash Eibar 3-0 away from home, extending their winning streak to five matches in a row. They have scored 13 goals in these five outings and conceded just twice, and their Champions League record suggests that this could be another comfortable win for the Camp Nou side.

Barcelona have lost just one of their last 30 Champions League group stage matches, the most recent of which came back in 2016 against Manchester City. They have also won three of their last five competitive games by more than a single goal, while Slavia Prague have lost two of their last 5 Champions League games by a two goal margin. This makes a Barcelona -1 Handicap look a great value bet, so we’re backing that.

Both of these Slavia Prague defeats have been by 2-0 scorelines, and with Barcelona keeping a clean sheet in three of their last four games we think a 2-0 scoreline is a good bet here.
