      Southend vs Peterborough Predictions

The visitors have in recent times at least always had a reputation as one of the most attacking sides in the football league. While it has been a disappointing start to the season for Dave Robertson and his side, with just 4 points coming from his opening 5 games, the goals have continued to flow at both ends.

Both sides have scored in all of Peterborough’s 4 league outings since the opening day and in 8 of their last 9 matches overall including the end of last season. They are still one of the more fancied sides in the division and are likely to be positive again here against newly promoted Southend.

However given Southend found their shooting boots in the entertaining 2-2 draw at Coventry on Monday night you could certainly see both teams scoring here at 8/11. It was the most encouraging performance and result of the season so far for Phil Brown’s men and it gives them something to build on and it has lifted them out of the relegation zone.

They’ve had a tough start at home, with last year’s beaten play-off finalists Swindon and early season pace-setters Walsall the only sides to visit Roots Hall so far. This may represent their best chance of a first win of the new campaign, especially given Peterborough have been struggling on the road of late.

Posh haven’t won any of their last 7 away games in the league and have lost 5 of them so you could certainly see a Southend side who are growing into life at this level taking all the points here.

They aren’t playing well enough to run away with it but a fairly open game and a narrow 2-1 home win is likely and can be backed at 8/1.
