Spain U21 vs Poland U21 Predictions

Poland head into this game with a surprise position of power, which could see them dump Italy and Spain out of the Under 21 Euros. The Poles have won their opening two clashes, which has put them top of Group A. They know that a point against Spain will send them through to the semis, while the Spanish need a win to make it through to the next round. While Spain are heavy favourites for a result in this clash, could we see another huge result from this Poland side?

Spain got their campaign back on track in midweek as they won 2-1 against Belgium. That victory pushed the 2017 runners-up back into the mix, but they have a tricky game to finish up the group. This competition only guarantees one spot in the semi-finals for the group winner, so the stakes are high heading into this clash with Poland. While the Spanish have the talent to win the tournament, can they do enough to book their place in the second round?

Poland’s 1-0 win over Italy last time out was an impressive result for the outsiders, especially as they didn’t show much form in the build-up to the tournament. The Poles drew 1-1 with England and lost 2-0 to Serbia in their last friendlies before heading to Italy this summer, where they’ve been brilliant so far. They kicked the group off with a 3-2 win over Belgium, while in midweek they were rarely troubled by Italy after taking the lead. Can they follow that up by pulling off a result against the Spanish?

We certainly expect to see Poland cause problems going forward. So far, Spain have looked vulnerable at the back. While they have brilliant depth in midfield positions, they’re lacking in cover at the back. They’ve seen both teams score in their two games in Italy so far, while this is shaping up to be their toughest game to date. The Spaniards head into this clash having seen both teams score in four of their last five competitive games, so we expect them to have issues at the back.

However, they showed with their couple of strikes against Belgium that they’ve got goals in midfield. All three of their goals at this tournament have come from midfield players, an area where Spain are incredibly strong. With Poland shipping two goals in their opening clash with Belgium, we think the group leaders will concede in this clash. We’re backing both teams to score in this one, while we’ve gone for a narrow win for Spain.
