Spain to Win and Over 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Spain bagged seven in Georgia in Saturday night from a massive 32 attempts on goal and while they’ll struggle to repeat that kind of attacking performance, they could record a sizeable win of the bottom side in the group.

Spain 4-0

Reason for tip

Cyprus have conceded three in three of their four European Championship qualifiers and lost 8-0 the last time they visited Spain. La Roja may struggle to match that scoreline with 4-0 a more likely outcome.

Spain vs Cyprus Predictions

  • Spain have won 30 of their last 35 European Championship qualifying matches
  • La Roja have scored three or more in seven of their last eight European Championship qualifying wins
  • Cyprus have lost all their Euro qualifiers so far and have shipped a combined 17 goals across their last three meetings with Spain

Lethal La Roja not giving up on catching Scots

Spain get the chance to trim Scotland’s lead at the top of Group A on Tuesday when they host Cyprus and all the signs point to another big win for La Roja.

Luis de la Fuente’s men didn’t play a qualifier in June as they instead played in and won the Nations League, but got back to the business of qualifying for Germany 2024 in some style on Saturday with a 7-1 win away from home in Georgia.

Alvaro Morata bagged a hat-trick on a night Lamine Yamal became the youngest player to ever play and score for Spain, who remain nine points behind group leaders Scotland but with two games in hand.

Having grappled with how to turn their possession into goals under predecessor Luis Enrique, a seven-goal win in Tbilisi perhaps shows de la Fuente has his new charges moving in the right direction.

No end in sight to Cyprus struggles

With Spain having registered 32 efforts on goal against Georgia, bottom of the table Cyprus must be fearing the worst after a disastrous qualifying campaign.

The Cypriots were well beaten by Scotland at home on Saturday with the 3-0 defeat making it seven straight losses in European Championship qualifiers.

Only four other nations have shipped more goals in qualifying than Cyprus so far and the last time they visited Spain in 1999, they lost 8-0.

Having been so rampant against Georgia, there’s likely to be some regression from Spain going forward and a more low-key 4-0 victory against a Cyprus side that’s failed to score in 12 of its last 20 away games seems a strong option.
