Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Spain’s recent success hasn’t been mixed with stellar defending, as they conceded in all four knockout games at Euro 2024. BTTS has also landed in five of Spain’s previous seven Nations League matches, while they meet a French side who are at full strength going forward, but limited through injuries at the back.

Spain 3-2

Reason for tip

Spain have conceded at least twice in their last three matches, but they should be able to find plenty of joy against a French defence which is missing William Saliba, Jules Kounde, Dayot Upamecano and Wesley Fofana.

Dani Olmo To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Dani Olmo continued his habit of scoring key goals with a strike for Barcelona at Inter Milan last month, while the midfielder wrapped up the club campaign by scoring against Athletic Bilbao. Olmo was key to Spain’s success in Germany last summer, scoring against Georgia, Germany, and France to send them to the final.

Spain vs France Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in five of Spain’s last seven matches
  • BTTS landed in all four of Spain’s knockout games in Germany last year, including a 2-1 win over France
  • Spain have conceded at least twice in each of their last three

French issues point to goals

Euro 2024 semi-finalists Spain and France return to Germany for Thursday’s Nations League semi-final. Lamine Yamal helped Spain to a 2-1 victory when the pair met 11 months ago, and the European champions are tipped to progress against an injury-hit French side.

France are without three of the back-four that started their 2-0 win over Croatia in March, with William Saliba, Dayot Upamecano and Jules Kounde all ruled out. With Wesley Fofana and Ferland Mendy also injured, along with Eduardo Camavinga and N’Golo Kante missing out at the base of their midfield, the French could be exposed in Stuttgart.

Didier Deschamps can call upon PSG’s Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola and Desire Doue alongside Michael Olise and Kylian Mbappe, so the French should have little trouble going forward.

Spain have some defensive concerns of their own, having conceded in five of their last seven Nations League games and in each of their Euro 2024 knockout matches. The Spanish have conceded at least twice in their previous three matches, but they’ve also scored twice or more in five consecutive games.

It’s hard to make a case for either defence here, while both teams feature two impressive, in-form forward lines. Back both teams to score, while France’s defensive issues point to Spain progressing in a high-scoring game.
