Sparta Rotterdam vs FC Utrecht Reserves Predictions
Sparta Rotterdam head into match day 13 top of the pile following a fine 0-2 win at MVV last week, and Henk Fraser’s men will be confident of at least consolidating their position when bottom side Jong Utrecht visit Het Kasteel this Friday. With Sparta boasting a perfect record at home and Jong winless away, a convincing victory for the hosts is expected in what looks to be a severe mismatch.
The big, established clubs are really coming to the fore now in Eerste Divisie and Sparta Rotterdam deservedly took over at the head of affairs on match day 12. A double from the deadly Lars Veldwijk secured Henk Fraser’s side a 0-2 victory at MVV last Friday, which extended their unbeaten run in the league to 11 games.
And the result heaped the pressure on Go Ahead Eagles who failed to respond at Telstar on Sunday, losing 2-1 to slip down to a share of 2nd place with Twente who comfortably saw off RKC 3-1 in Enschede.
Whilst it’s still early days, Sparta and Twente are getting stronger by the week and it’s shaping up as though they could be pair to concentrate on in the race for automatic promotion. Out of the two, it’s Sparta who’ll be delighted with their current position considering they were defeated by Twente at De Grolsch Veste on the opening night of the campaign.
Sparta have been flawless at Het Kasteel this term, winning six from six and scoring an impressive 15 goals in the process. This week’s trip to Rotterdam is an unenviable one to say the least for Jong Utrecht, who like last season are quickly becoming the whipping boys of the second tier.
Robin Pronk’s men prop up the table after gaining just six points from their 12 outings, with their only win so far coming at home to Jong PSV (3-2) on match day four. Jong have lost five from six on the road, and there’s unlikely to be a team priced up as bigger outsiders all season than they will be this Friday.
This will be the first ever clash between Sparta and Utrecht’s reserves, and the Rotterdam outfit will certainly find this much easier than recent games against the senior Utrecht side who bossed them over the last two season’s prior to their relegation from Eredivisie.
Jong have shipped almost three goals per game on their travels and this really could be absolute carnage is Sparta are in a ruthless mood. Ten goal man Veldwijk will definitely be up for this one and could well take over as Eerste Divisie top scorer come the end of the round with Jong AZ’s Ferdy Druijf just one ahead on 11.
It should simply be a question of how many here for the hosts, and we’re recommending a three point wager on Sparta covering a two goal handicap. To supplement this, we think a 6-0 Sparta victory is overpriced and worth a small punt, with the option of cashing out at some stage a possibility if you’re that way inclined.
