St Johnstone vs Galatasaray Predictions
- Galatasaray have conceded in 11 of their last 14 games.
- The Turkish side without their number one goalkeeper and captain due to suspension.
- St Johnstone won seven of their last eight cup games, with their only blip being arguably the best result of the run in this fixture last week.
Galatasaray to struggle in Perth
On the back of a wonderful night in Turkey last week, St Johnstone are one step nearer to the Europa League group stages and on Thursday McDiarmid Park will be hosting one of Europe’s stalwarts in these competitions, Galatasaray, in their seventh European campaign.
With the tie currently locked at 1-1, The Saints will be hoping to land the spoils in one of the club’s most significant games in their 137 year history.
They have a chance of glory, too. The away side are prone to conceding goals, with 11 of their last 14 games resulting in the opposition finding the net. Not only that, but number one goalkeeper and club captain Fernando Muslera is suspended after the Uruguayan saw red in the reverse fixture last week.
Callum Davidson’s men have come alive in the past 12 months in cup competitions, winning both domestic trophies in Scotland last season and after a successful result in Turkey last week they have a fantastic chance of avoiding defeat here.
Our score prediction would be another 1-1 draw, with all three of St Johnstone’s games this season ending all square and the last two ending 1-1. A gut feeling says the experience of Galatasaray will prevail in extra time or after penalties, although the heart would be rooting for the underdog story.
