      Genk to Win

      Reason for tip

Genk may have made a slow start to the season, but the fixture list has not exactly been kind and they can get their first win of the campaign against a Standard team they are unbeaten against in four, triumphing in three of those games.

      Genk 2-1

      Reason for tip

Genk are unbeaten in four against Standard, winning three of those games, the last two of which finished 2-1. This should be quite tight but the Blue-White are capable of replicating that scoreline on Sunday.

      Standard Liege vs Genk Predictions

      • Standard Liege have made an unbeaten start to the new season
      • Genk ended last season poorly and have failed to win so far this term
      • The Blue-White have won three of their last four meetings with Standard

Liege looking to improve the Standard

It was an underwhelming 2024/25 campaign for Standard Liege, but they have made an unbeaten start to this term, picking up four points from their opening two matches.

However, this will mark the first serious test that Mircea Rednic and his side have faced this season and they have failed to win any of their last four meetings with Genk, losing three of those games.

Genk should improve after recent disappointments

By contrast to Standard, Genk have made a poor start to the season, picking up just a solitary point from their opening two games, but those matches were against Club Brugge and Antwerp – two of last season’s top five.

Genk themselves finished third last term after topping the regular season standings and Thorsten Fink will expect his team to rediscover their winning touch sooner rather than later.

The Blue-White have won their last two games against Standard – one in the league and one in the Belgian Cup – by a 2-1 scoreline and a similar outcome could play out at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne this weekend.
