Stevenage vs Yeovil Town Predictions

With the re-emergence of Macclesfield Town under the leadership of Sol Campbell and the strengthening of Notts County in the January transfer window, the battle for League Two survival looks like it is set to go down to the wire once again this season. For fans of Yeovil Town, they know that the upturn in form they have enjoyed in the last few weeks has come at the perfect time and they have the opportunity for another three points this weekend when they make the trip to a Stevenage side who are still hopeful of winning a spot in the play-offs come the end of the season.

After back-to-back wins Stevenage fell into their old ways with a 2-0 home defeat by promotion chasers Forest Green last Saturday. The hosts have been frustratingly inconsistent this season and they are currently three points outside the top seven but have played a game more than Exeter who currently occupy that elusive last play-off spot.

Struggling Yeovil Town were not in action last weekend and now stand just three points above the League Two relegation trap door. Yeovil had previously managed to put an end to eight league matches without a win with back to back victories over Mansfield and Notts County, but defeat to league leaders Lincoln City last time out means that there is still plenty of work left to be done if they are to secure their survival come the end of the campaign.

The visitors go into this match as the underdogs and, given the relative position in the League Two table, that seems a fair assessment. However, they have shown good form in the last few weeks and defeat to a Lincoln City side who have been dominant in the division is hardly surprising. An extended rest can go both ways for a side in terms of being helpful or being a hindrance, but we think that backing them to win either half represents the best opportunity of a decent return.
