Stoke haven’t gelled yet. Everybody keeps expecting their talented front line to finally come together one of these days and set the league alight, but it just doesn’t seem to be happening.
Their performance at the weekend against Arsenal was lacklustre at best, and if Arsenal’s finishing was a bit better they could have easily beaten them 5-0. Fortunately for them, it ended in a less humiliating 2-0 defeat.
This was their third Premier League defeat of the season, with two draws making it a total of two points from a possible 15 for the new look Stoke, leaving them 18th in the Premier League.
They didn’t even manage to get a proper victory in the League Cup either, with Luton holding them to a 1-1 draw and it taking a round of penalties for Stoke to progress.
It won’t help that they have a growing list of injuries and suspensions to deal with. Glen Johnson is unlikely to be risked for this game along with Peter Odemwingie, whilst Ryan Shawcross could be out for a few months yet. Charlie Adam and Ibrahim Afellay are both serving the second of their three match ban.
Leicester are in much better shape than the hosts. They only have Matthew James out injured and come into the game in fantastic form.
They are still unbeaten this season, and have won four of their six matches in all competitions. This includes their impressive fightback against Aston Villa on Sunday. They were 2-0 down with under 20 minutes remaining when Riyad Mahrez came to life and spurred his team on to a 3-2 victory.
Leicester, along with Manchester City, are one of only two teams still unbeaten in the league this season, and with the quality they’re showing I expect them to continue that run on Saturday. Odds of 8/13 for a Leicester Win or Draw Double Chance look really good value given Stoke’s poor form as well.
