Sunderland to Win

Reason for tip

Sunderland have lost their last two matches but those defeats came against local rivals Newcastle in the FA Cup and to highflying Ipswich in the Championship. The Black Cats are fancied to get the better of Hull having beaten them on Boxing Day.

Sunderland 2-1

Reason for tip

Sunderland have scored two or more goals in four of their last seven home league matches, and although they can outscore Hull on Friday, the Tigers could claw back a consolation strike.

Jack Clarke To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Jack Clarke scored the winner in the Boxing Day win over Hull and the in-form winger could add to his 13-goal tally at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland vs Hull City Predictions

  • Hull haven’t won at the Stadium of Light since 2014
  • Jack Clarke has scored 13 goals for Sunderland this season
  • Hull have scored on five of their last eight visits to Sunderland

Expect a livelier contest at Stadium of Light

These two last met at the MKM Stadium on Boxing Day when Sunderland ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a late Jack Clarke winner.

It was something of a sucker punch for the Tigers who dominated the contest without ever really threatening to put the contest to bed.

A smash and grab win for the Black Cats was a huge bonus for Michael Beale’s men who enjoyed the festive period with two wins and a draw.

However, things haven’t gone so well since and Sunderland were knocked out of the FA Cup by bitter rivals Newcastle and followed it up with a 2-1 defeat at promotion-chasing Ipswich last time out.

Back on home soil they will fancy their chances and we predict a home win for the Black Cats with a 2-1 score-line our correct-score prediction.

Clarke too hot to handle

Sunderland winger Jack Clarke scored the winner in the last meeting between these two, and the in-form youngster is fancied to find the net once again.

Clarke is attracting plenty of attention thanks to his exploits this season, and we predict another goal for the 23-year-old.

Hull won the shots on target count 6-3 at the MKM Stadium on Boxing Day and Sunderland will be wary of the threat posed by the East Yorkshire side, who lost 2-1 to Norwich last time out.

That was a disappointing result on home soil but the Tigers still managed to get on the scoresheet despite a limp display, and a consolation goal is our prediction for this clash on Friday.
