Swansea vs Arsenal Predictions
Swansea suffered another setback to their disastrous season on Saturday as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by fellow Premier League strugglers Hull. This makes it five losses and one win from their last six matches, and they now have a very tough run of fixtures coming up which includes Arsenal, Liverpool, Southampton, and Manchester City.
That makes this spell absolutely crucial for them. If they pick up some points from these tough games they should keep in touch with the safe zone, but another losing streak could see them fall way behind in the race for Premier League survival.
At home Swansea have had a few good results of late, but in general it’s been the same old story of misery. They have won two, drawn two, and lost seven of their 11 home matches this season, conceding a huge 23 goals in their ten home league matches to give them the worst defensive record in the league.
This will come as good news for Olivier Giroud. The Arsenal striker has been Arsenal’s saviour of late, with his winning goal in the FA Cup last weekend making it four consecutive games in which he has scored. Away from home he has started just one match and come off the bench five times but has still managed to net four times. Considering his recent form he’s almost certain to start up front, so backing him to score anytime at 8/11 looks a fantastic choice for our goalscorer predictions.
Arsenal certainly have looked a bit weary lately though, especially when you consider their start to the campaign. They needed to come from behind against Preston North End last weekend to maintain their four match unbeaten streak. The last Premier League match saw them come from three goals down to claim a point at Bournemouth, but despite the incredible comeback it is a bitterly disappointing result on the balance of things.
The Gunners have now dropped out of the top four in the Premier League, although a win on Saturday could potentially send them up to 2nd so all is not lost just yet. Despite their dip in form they have still won three of their last six on the road, losing only to Everton and Manchester City.
What we can expect from this game is goals. Swansea have seen at least three goals in nine of their last ten home games, with themselves scoring in all but two of these games. Arsenal haven’t kept a clean sheet in nine away days in all competitions, with at least three goals being scored in eight of them. This makes odds of 1/1 for Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score look very good value, so I’m backing that alongside a 3-1 win for Arsenal at 11/1.
