Tianjin Teda vs Guangzhou Evergrande Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Tianjin Teda only narrowly avoided relegation from the Chinese Super League last season, finishing 13th in the table with only two points more than second from bottom Guizhou Moutai. It’s safe to say the new season has started off in a more positive fashion than that.

They opened the campaign with a loss away to Shandong Luneng, but since then they have picked up five points from their three games, winning their only home match of the season and drawing away to Jiangsu Suning and Guizhou Zhicheng. They haven’t conceded a goal in these three matches either, so their defence is definitely looking very solid.

Guangzhou Evergrande will put them to the test though. The visitors retained the Chinese Super League title last season, beating off the challenge of Shanghai SIPG and sitting two points ahead by the end of the campaign.

The start of this season has been a bit less promising, but in fairness they have had to contest the Asian Champions League group stages regularly as well. Their last outing was a goalless draw away to Kawasaki Frontale, leaving them second in their group with a two point advantage over their opponents.

This followed on from a 2-2 draw at home to Guangzhou R&F last weekend to make it four wins, four draws, and just one defeat in all competitions this season. In the league they have won two, drawn one, and lost one of their four games, with their only away game of the season resulting in a 2-1 loss to Shandong Luneng.

Tianjin Teda may have a good back line, but they’re facing a side who scored a league high 71 goals last season and have eight goals in their four league matches so far this season. The visitors haven’t managed to keep a clean sheet yet though, so I’m backing Both Teams to Score at 7/10 along with a 2-1 win for the visitors at 7/1 for my correct score predictions.
