Romania -1

Reason for tip

Romania have displayed plenty of self-belief since reaching the knockout stages at Euro 2024 and they should win with a bit in hand against Cyprus, who must pick themselves up after a 4-0 humbling by Kosovo

Romania 3-1

Reason for tip

Cyprus need to go on the front foot but Romania scored three times against both Kosovo and Lithuania in the last round of fixtures and can do so again in a 3-1 win

Cyprus vs Romania Predictions

  • Romania have scored a total of six goals in their two Nations League games this season
  • Cyprus have lost seven of their last nine home matches
  • Romania have suffered just three defeats in their last 21 outings

Romania look to be on the up

Romania appear to have given themselves a shot in the arm after reaching the last 16 at this summer’s Euros and they should prove again that they are far superior to their opposition in National League Group C2.

Mircea Lucescu’s side have shown plenty of self-belief in their two Nations League victories so far and they look likely to be far too strong for Cyprus, who are desperate to put on a show in front of their own fans after seven defeats in their last nine home matches.

However, there are doubts that they will be able to live with the Romanians, who announced themselves in great style at the Euros with an impressive 3-0 victory over Ukraine.

They have won 3-0 against Kosovo, a side who recovered by winning 4-0 in Cyprus a few days afterwards and the home side in Larnaca could find their opponents far too hot to handle.

Cyprus could struggle to meet the challenge

Cyprus have no real option but to go on the front foot after that humbling in their last home game and they will be desperate to rediscover the spirit that earned them a 1-0 in their opener in Lithuania.

However, Romania have shown they know where the goal is in their last two matches, and it would not be a surprise if they posted another 3-1 success to go with the one they earned at home to the Lithuanians in their last outing.
