Tijuana vs Tigres Predictions
Sunday’’s Liga MX Clausura action sees Tijuana and Tigres doing battle. The visitors arrive as big favourites to take home all 3 points but it should be an entertaining clash with plenty of action at both ends.
After finishing the Apertura phase of the campaign fourth bottom with just 17 points from 17 games, Tijuana hardly gave their fans any reason to believe this closing phase is going to be any happier than last weekend’s opener, which they lost 2-0 at Chivas in a disappointing showing.
Now without a win in 9 straight matches and having lost 7 of said games, confidence in very low in home ranks and it’s hard to see the side enjoying a successful second half of the campaign, unless things turn around a staggering amount. On home soil here, Los Xolos will be looking for an improved performance but having lost their last 7 games against Tigres, that’s not something that looks at all likely.
Meanwhile, whilst Tigres may still be aching from a quarter-final play-off defeat at the hands of UNAM Pumas in the Apertura, they remain one of Liga MX’s strongest sides and with a team stacked full of quality, they’ll certainly be gunning for the Clausura title over the coming months and should be there or there abouts come the end of the season.
Last weekend’s opener at Leon typified this Tigres outfit, in the sense that they looked fantastic going forward but less than secure at the back and that’s something Ricardo Ferretti will have to address if his men are indeed to run out champions. Nonetheless, having lost just 1 of their last 8 league away games, the visitors arrive confident of securing a positive result in this trip.
We anticipate this being an exciting open game that should have plenty of chances at either end. Tigres always play in an aggressive, attacking manner and with Tijuana desperate to end their awful run of form, neither side are likely to hold anything back on Sunday.
As such, backing both teams to score looks an excellent way to play and is something we’re more than happy to do. Tigres have scored in their last 12 away games but have also conceded in 8 of them and with both nets having been hit in 3 of Tijuana’s last 4 away games, we can’t envisage this one being short of goals but do fancy Tigres to extend their winning streak against Tijuana via a 2-1 margin of victory.
