Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa Predictions
Tottenham Hotspur’s 5-1 victory over Bournemouth last weekend saw Harry Kane finally get back to the form we saw from him last season. The star striker netted a hat trick as Spurs romped to victory, a result which has seen them climb to 6th in the table with a game in hand over all the teams above them.
A win on Monday would see them rise above West Ham into the European qualification spots, but a loss could let Southampton leapfrog them.
Spurs’ win over Bournemouth made it four games without defeat in the league, although a loss to Anderlecht in the Europa League did mar this record slightly.
Aston Villa have no such good form to fall back on, and with Tim Sherwood now out of the door the Villa fans will be hoping that they can save their sinking ship of a season.
They haven’t won in the Premier League since their opening game of the season, and their points tally stands at a meagre four points from ten league games.
They were knocked out of the Capital One Cup in midweek as well, with that 2-1 loss to Southampton adding to their woes.
Their only points have come against the newly promoted Bournemouth on the opening day of the season and a draw against the awful Sunderland. Not exactly giant killers.
This leaves them at the bottom of the Premier League table, and Spurs will be very confident of getting the win on Monday.
Aston Villa did manage to get a victory in the corresponding fixture last season, but that was the only time they have won in their last 14 meetings with Spurs. Before that 1-0 win they had lost six on the bounce against them.
It’s hard to look beyond the home side for this one, and with Mauricio Pocchettino’s side finally finding their goalscoring boots I’m expecting them to put a few past the visitors on Monday. Odds of 11/10 for a Tottenham Hotspur Win and Over 2.5 Goals look really good value for money.
