Tottenham Hotspur and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Tottenham were dumped out of the FA Cup by Manchester City on Friday, but some of their key players are coming back from injury and a run of three home victories in which both teams have scored could continue

Tottenham Hotspur 3-1

Reason for tip

Brentford can be expected to push forward after winning at Tottenham last season and the return of striker Ivan Toney should encourage them to be positive. However, it may not be enough, so go for a 3-1 home win.

Richarlison To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Heung-Min Son is away at the Asian Cup, but Richarlison has found his shooting boots at Tottenham and he can maintain his run of scoring six goals in his last six Premier League appearances for the north London outfit.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Brentford Predictions

  • Brentford have lost their last four away Premier League matches
  • Eight of the Bees’ last ten matches have featured at least three goals
  • Both teams have scored in eight of Tottenham’s last nine home league matches

Stronger Tottenham can push on

A 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester City on Friday looks to have condemned Tottenham to another trophyless season, but there was enough to take from that showing to suggest Spurs can still make a strong top-four push and they should have too much for Brentford.

Ange Postecoglou’s team didn’t have enough in the tank to come out on top against the treble winners, but key to their future hopes is that the popular Australian is no getting key players back from the treatment room and that bodes well.

His best two central defenders, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are back in action and fans were delighted to see midfielder James Maddison come on as a substitute.

So they look stronger than the team who lost successive home games against Aston Villa, Chelsea and West Ham in the run-up to Christmas.

Tottenham have kept just two home clean sheets in ten games this season, but they have won their last three with both teams scoring and that pattern looks set to continue as Brentford are likely to be positive.

Bees can make their mark

The Bees will remember that they gained a 3-1 win on their visit to Spurs in May and although the home side look stronger this time, the same could be said of the visitors.

Star striker Ivan Toney is available again after his lengthy suspension, which came into force just before that win in north London, and he announced his comeback with a bang last week, scoring in their 3-2 home win over Nottingham Forest.

He should come on for the run as he rebuilds his match fitness so could cause problems with his power and pace so it would be no surprise if the Bees find the net, even though they have lost their last four away league games.

Tottenham can cut loose if given the opportunity and the quality of their approach play against City was impressive even if the finishing touches were not there.

We can expect that situation to improve against Brentford and those looking for a correct-score bet may choose to select a 3-1 home win.

Richarlison continuing to improve

There was a time when there were concerns if Richarlison would even get going in a Tottenham shirt and while he was unable to net against City, he looks a lot stronger and more confident leading the Spurs line in recent weeks.

The Brazilian could be relishing the extra responsibility with regular striker Heung-Min Son away at the Asian Cup and, after scoring six goals in his last six Premier League appearances, he could enjoy another personally memorable evening.
