Turkey to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Both of these teams have seen over 2.5 goals land in five of their last six games and a repeat of that looks likely, especially considering Turkey’s attacking talents and Romania’s injury issues. Side with Turkey to win and over 2.5 goals to land too.

      Turkey 3-1

      Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in four of Romania’s last five games and Turkey have been leaky at the back at times recently so it may be worth siding with a 3-1 win for the hosts.

      Turkey vs Romania Predictions

      • Turkey’s six qualifiers averaged over 4.5 goals per game
      • Both teams have scored in four of Romania’s last five games
      • Turkey have won six of their last eight competitive games

      Romania suffering injury issues

Romania have not qualified for the World Cup since 1998 and their chances of doing so this time around look slim as they face Turkey in the first leg of their UEFA qualifier on Thursday.

The Tricolorii have been dealt a big blow with their first-choice goalkeeper Ionut Radu suffering an injury which will keep him from featuring with key men Marius Marin and Denis Dragus also in the treatment room.

They had an underwhelming qualifying group, finishing third behind Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina but managed to progress thanks to their Nations League efforts.

Romania face a tough test here though against a Turkey side who pushed Spain all the way in their qualification group, finishing just three points behind the European Champions.

      Turkey to win entertaining affair

The Crescent-Stars have a talented group, including Inter’s Hakan Calhanoglu and Real Madrid’s Arda Guler, and have won six of their last eight competitive games.

Remarkably they have only qualified for the World Cup twice, the most recent of which saw them finish third back in 2022, but they have an excellent chance of moving one step closer against a Romania team who have struggled on the road.

Turkey’s six qualifiers produced 29 goals and they are fancied to win a game which goes over 2.5 goals.

Correct score backers should note the fact that both teams have scored in four of Romania’s last five matches and take a 3-1 Turkey win.
