Derry City and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

UCD are bottom of the table and in terrible form, losing six of their last seven home games. Derry City are searching for an eighth straight win over the Students and they can claim a win, although they have seen BTTS in four of their last five matches in the league.

Derry City 3-1

Reason for tip

Derry City beat Dundalk 3-1 in their last game and they can repeat that scoreline against a UCD side who have shipped nine goals across their last three matches.

Can Derry close the gap to Rovers?

Derry City head into Wednesday’s clash in Dublin aiming to cut the seven-point gap to Irish league leaders Shamrock Rovers. With the Candystripes suffering exits in the cup and in the Europa Conference League, their season has taken a turn over the last couple of weeks. However, they could yet challenge for the title.

Derry head to UCD in midweek, with the hosts rooted to the bottom of the table, 17 points off Cork City above them and 20 points shy of safety. The hosts have been awful this term, winning just twice at home so far. With six defeats in their last seven at home, it’s little wonder that they’re outsiders for Wednesday’s clash.

Derry to win high-scoring clash

The visitors have a fantastic recent record against the Students, securing seven straight wins against them. The latest of those was a 4-1 home victory in May and this could be another high-scoring affair, as the visitors have seen BTTS land in four of their last five league matches.

The Candystripes have also conceded 1.07 goals per away trip this term, going six away trips without a clean sheet in the league. UCD have conceded first in 10 of their 13 home games this term so they should fall behind early, but they can get on the scoresheet against the visitors’ questionable defence.
