Union Berlin Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Bayern Munich have only won one of their last seven away matches in all competitions and that coupled with a potential Champions League hangover, could be enough to hand Union Berlin, who have picked up 20 of their 29 points on home soil this season, the initiative.

Union Berlin vs Bayern Munich Predictions

  • Union Berlin have collected 20 of their 29 points this season on home soil
  • Bayern Munich have won just one of their last seven away games
  • Two of the last three meetings between these two sides in Berlin have ended 1-1

Bayern to suffer European hangover

Bayern Munich knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League during the week and with a semi-final tie against Real Madrid to come in that competition, their focus may not be entirely on Saturday’s trip to the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei to take on Union Berlin.

With the Bundesliga title race already over and a top-four position looking secure, Bayern may be forgiven for taking their eye off the ball against Union, but their recent away record suggests they may struggle even if they are fully focused.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have only won one of their last seven away matches across all competitions and that sole victory was at the Bundesliga’s bottom club Darmstadt.

Union have previous in this fixture

Union have recovered from a disastrous start to the season, but they are still in need of the points in the battle to avoid relegation.

Nenad Bjelica’s side have picked up the majority of their points this season – 20 of 29 – on home soil and they also have a decent record when facing Bayern on their own patch.

Union have avoided defeat in two of their last three home meetings with the Bavarians, with both of those games finishing 1-1, and a similar result on Saturday would not be a surprise.
