      Both Teams To Score

      Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in six of Royale Union SG’s last seven games, as they have in three of the last five Union Berlin matches, while these two teams drew 3-3 in the return leg in Germany

      Draw 1-1

      Reason for tip

Royale Union SG, who have failed to score in just one of their 21 home matches this season, have conceded exactly once in three of their last four fixtures (at all venues). Union Berlin meanwhile drew 1-1 with Wolfsburg at the weekend, a third successive draw and one of seven occasions in their last 12 outings they have conceded exactly once

Union Saint Gilloise vs Union Berlin Predictions

      • Six of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s last seven games have seen both teams score
      • Both teams have netted in three of Union Berlin’s last five outings
      • Union Berlin have failed to score in only three of their last dozen away fixtures

Can Royale Union SG make history?

Other than a run to the Fairs Cup semi-final in 1959/60, Royale Union SG have never got this far in a European competition, so they will be keen to make home advantage count in this tie.

The Belgian outfit drew the first leg 3-3 in Germany, and after a 2-1 win away to Genk at the weekend, both teams have scored in six of their last seven fixtures.

Karel Geraerts’ side are also putting their excellent record at Joseph Marien Stadium to the test, where they have netted in 20 of 21 matches this season, losing just three times.

Is Union Berlin’s season petering out?

After challenging for so long at the top of the Bundesliga, Union Berlin must fear their season is fizzling out following a run of one win in seven matches across all competitions.

Three of the last five of those games have seen both teams score, as have half of their last ten away trips, in which they have failed to score only three times.

Urs Fischer’s side, who themselves are in just their third season in European football, did get a handy 0-0 draw at Ajax in the last round of this competition, but have also kept only one clean sheet in their last five games.

I predict that both teams will score in this game, with 1-1 my correct score prediction.
