Villarreal to bounce back to form

They may not have won in three games, but Villarreal’s form on home soil this season has been strong, losing just twice in eleven outings in La Liga, racking up an impressive six wins in the process.

On top of that, no ground in the division has seen more goals than Estadio de la Ceramica, with a total of 39 made up of 26 scored by the hosts, compared to 13 conceded.

Unai Emery’s side are missing a handful of players due to the Africa Cup of Nations, and that could explain their recent dip, but a return to home comforts could spark a return to winning ways.

Mallorca struggling on the road

A 2-1 win at Atletico Madrid at the start of December really is an outlier in Mallorca’s form this season, as it is the only time they have beaten a team in the top half of La Liga so far.

Luis Garcia’s side have lost their last three in the league, including a 2-0 defeat away to bottom club Levante in their most recent fixture.

They have not kept a clean sheet in their last nine on the road, with five of those matches including at least three goals.

I think this is the perfect opportunity for Villarreal to return to winning ways, and predict they will do so with three or more goals in the match, selecting 3-1 as a correct score.
