Villarreal vs Valencia Predictions

Yellow Submarine to sink visitors

Villarreal are still nicely sat in third place in La Liga, but the Yellow Submarine aren’t sailing quite as nicely as they were earlier in this campaign and they may have to settle for a narrow victory over struggling Valencia.

Marcelino’s men lost just two of their opening 15 league matches and have been in the top four for most of the campaign.

Valencia, on the other, have been languishing in and around the relegation zone and only lifted themselves out of the bottom three last week thanks to a victory over second-bottom Levante.

Villarreal also got the better of Levante last time out to secure just their second win in eight outings, but we predict that they will be too strong for Valencia on Sunday.

Only Real Madrid and Barcelona have been to good for the Yellow Submarine at La Ceramica this season and Valencia are nowhere near that level. Los Che’s win over Levante snapped a three-game losing streak and they have won just two of their 12 La Liga away games this term.

Villarreal are averaging 2.1 goals pre game on home soil in the league this season, so despite not being as sharp as they were earlier this season, a narrow 2-1 looks the best bet for correct-score punters as Valencia have scored in each of their last nine away fixtures in all competitions.
