Benfica and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Benfica have won three straight games but they’ve conceded five goals across their two away matches this term. The Eagles have at least scored twice in each of their five matches in all competitions this term, so they should be able to outscore the hosts, who lost all 10 meetings with the top five last season.

Vizela vs Benfica Predictions

  • Benfica have won each of their last three games, but they’ve conceded five goals across two away trips
  • The hosts lost home and away to each of the top five last season
  • Benfica have scored twice in all five games this term

Benfica chase fourth straight win

Benfica took the Portuguese title on the final day last term and they look in no mood to surrender it, having won three games on the spin. The champions did slip up in their opener at Boavista, but they laid down a marker last month with a 2-0 Super Cup victory over rivals Porto.

Benfica return from the international break against a Vizela side who have been a part of some entertaining clashes already this term. The hosts picked up their first win of the campaign at the start of September before the two-week break, but can they add to that against the champions?

Hosts to cause some problems

While Benfica have made a strong start, they have seen some issues crop up defensively. They threw away a lead at Boavista late on to lose 3-2 and they shipped two goals in a 3-2 victory at Gil Vicente last month.

So far this term, Vizela have been edged out 3-2 by Sporting and their home opener saw them draw 2-2 with Arouca. The hosts have scored in three of their four games to date so they can cause problems for the Eagles, but with Benfica scoring twice in each of their five games across all competitions the visitors should come away with the points.

Last term Vizela lost home and away to each of the top five and this looks like another defeat. However, the hosts have notched in six of their last seven home league games and they’re capable of scoring in a loss.
