Tip Reasoning

  • Wales are unbeaten in six games since Euro 2020
  • Belgium have scored in their last 41 matches
  • Wales will be guaranteed second place if they avoid defeat, which would in all likelihood secure a home play-off tie
  • Wales will also finish second if the Czech Republic fail to beat Estonia irrespective of their result against Belgium

Wales Hitting Form

After a sluggish start to World Cup qualifying, Wales have won three of their last five matches to move into second place in Group E.

They are already into the play-offs for a place in Qatar because of their Nations League performance but will be away from home in the qualifying play-off if they slip down to third place – something they’ll hope to avoid.

The hosts scoring form in recent qualifiers – they’ve netted two or more in three of their five games since September – should make them hopeful of causing an upset even without Gareth Bale who was withdrawn from the squad on Tuesday. Bale was subbed off at half-time in Saturday’s 5-1 win over Belarus and hasn’t scored in four for his country.

Belgium Ruthless In Attack

Roberto Martinez’s Belgium have a staggering goal scoring record, netting in every game they have played since losing 1-0 to France in the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.

Their so called ‘Golden Generation’ of players have already secured their place in Qatar and have scored 24 times in just seven qualifying matches, including a 3-1 victory in the corresponding fixture against Wales in Brussels.

And although their attacking potency takes a hit through Romelu Lukaku’s injury absence, they still have enough quality to get at least a couple of goals, so a 2-2 draw is predicted.
