Watford vs Newcastle Predictions

  • Both Watford and Newcastle are yet to keep a Premier League clean sheet this season.
  • However, these sides have scored 12 league goals between them in this period.
  • Watford are unbeaten in four competitive meetings with Newcastle.

Huge win boosts Hornets’ confidence

A rotated Watford side may have been dumped out of the Carabao Cup in midweek but spirits at Vicarage Road will remain high after a crucial victory over Norwich last weekend.

That win over a team expected to be one of their relegation contenders takes them to a respectable six points from five games and they can add to their points tally against the winless Newcastle on Saturday.

Bruce’s stock falls further

Steve Bruce has never been the most popular of managers at St James’ Park but after failing to win any of their six competitive games this season he is coming under an increasing amount of pressure.

The Magpies have picked up just two points so far this season and have conceded 13 times in five league games, although to be fair to their attackers they have only failed to find the net once in the Premier League.

Expect goals at both ends at Vicarage Road

Watford, like their opponents, are also yet to keep a clean sheet this season and the lack of defensive form on both sides of the pitch could open the door for our preferred both teams to score bet.

As far as the result goes, I’m expecting another tight affair. Newcastle have drawn three of their last four in all competitions and two of the last three league meetings between these sides have ended 1-1, so that’s my pick for a correct score prediction.

Bettors in the market for a goalscorer option should consider Ismaila Sarr. The Watford winger tore Norwich apart last weekend and now has three goals in five league games.

Watford predicted lineup: Foster; Cathcart, Troost-Ekong, Sierralta, Rose; Sissoko, Kucka; Sarr, Cleverley, Dennis; King

Newcastle predicted lineup: Darlow; Manquillo, Hayden, Lascelles, Clart, Ritchie; Almiron, Willock, Longstaff, Joelinton; Saint-Maximin.

  • There have been two 1-1 draws in the last three Premier League meetings between Watford and Newcastle
  • Both teams have scored in four of Newcastle’s five Premier League matches this season
