Watford vs Sunderland Betting Tips & Predictions

It has been announced this week that Watford will part company with manager Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of the season due to the criteria for contract renewal not being met. This seems an incredibly strange decision from the Watford board considering that their only goal this season should have been to stay in the Premier League. Watford have done that, and despite their poor second half to the season still find themselves in a very respectable 13th position ahead of the final Premier League game.

Their form has been woeful recently though. They have won just two of their last 11 Premier League games and have lost seven during that run, and this form carried over to the FA Cup when they were eliminated by Crystal Palace in the semi final. Still, surely a mid-table Premier League finish and an FA Cup semi final is grounds for a contract renewal.

Sunderland have done it, as we all knew they would. Big Sam has led them to yet another great escape from the Premier League relegation zone with some excellent work at the helm of the club.

Sunderland’s 3-0 thrashing of Everton on Wednesday confirmed their survival, with it coming just a few days after they beat Chelsea 3-2. This makes it just one defeat for Sunderland in their last ten matches, and three of their last five have ended in victory.

Away from home they are unbeaten in four matches, and with all the weight of relegation lifted off their shoulders I’m expecting another impressive performance from the big hearted Sunderland squad.

Despite the visitors only losing one of their last ten matches and the hosts having just two wins from their last 11 outings the odds for a Sunderland Win or Draw Double Chance are still at an attractive 3/4, so that’s what I’m backing along with a 2-1 win for the visitors at 11/1.
