      Bayer Leverkusen to Win

      Reason for tip

Bayer Leverkusen take an impressive away record to Werder Bremen and while they have had to cope with a wide change of personnel and a new manager in Erik ten Hag, they should have too much for their opponents, who have got off to a poor start.

      Bayer Leverkusen 2-1

      Reason for tip

Bayer Leverkusen’s matches tend to feature more than three goals and their strong away record suggests they can come away from Bremen with a victory, but expect their hosts to get on the scoresheet as they aim to kick their season into gear.

Werder Bremen vs Bayer Leverkusen Predictions

      • Bayer Leverkusen are unbeaten in their last 34 Bundesliga away matches
      • All of Bayer Leverkusen’s last five matches have featured at least three goals
      • Werder Bremen won just five Bundesliga home matches last season

Werder have suffered a poor start

Werder Bremen will be hoping to improve on their mid-table finish in last season’s Bundesliga after remaining unbeaten in their final eight matches, but things have not started well and they look vulnerable in their first home game of the new campaign against Bayer Leverkusen.

Werder have not conceded in their last four on their own patch but they fell to Second Division Arminia in the first round of the German Cup and their league quest started with a 4-1 loss at Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend.

So these are hardly the best circumstances to come up against a team who have not lost in their last 34 league away games.

Leverkusen having to adjust to change

Leverkusen are having to come through a difficult time with Xabi Alonso having been replaced by former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag and they did not get off to the best of starts, suffering a surprise 2-1 home loss to Hoffenheim in their opener.

However, Werder struggled to get over the line in many of their home games last season, scoring more than twice in just two of their 17 on their own patch, so expect the visitors to get off the mark where, with a 2-1 away win of potential interest to correct-score punters.
