Wolves vs Bolton Predictions
Wolves have suffered mixed fortunes this season which isn’t entirely surprising when you consider they’ve lost their 2 best players in the last 2 transfer windows with Bakary Sako and Benik Afobe both departing for top flight clubs. The Premier League is where Wolves would dearly love to return to but they will struggle to do it this season.
They are currently 9 points outside the top six so this really is a must win game if they are to harbour genuine play-off hopes. They were beaten 3-1 by Cardiff in their last home game but their overall form has been pretty good and they’d won 4 league games in a row prior to that and got a solid 1-1 draw at QPR last time out.
Bolton’s nightmare season meanwhile continues to go on and they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Leeds at the weekend. They did win their last league game though when they beat MK Dons 3-1 at home but it was only their 3rd win of the season in the league and they will remain rooted to the foot of the table no matter what the result here.
All of their wins have been at the Macron though and they have taken just 3 points from 14 games on the road in the league. For that reason Wolves look well worth backing to win this game at odds of 3/4 and leave cash-strapped Bolton in even deeper trouble.
One glimmer of hope for Neil Lennon is that his side have looked more dangerous in front of goal over the past month. Bolton have netted 9 goals in their last 5 matches and although 2 of those games were against non-league Eastleigh, an away goal certainly can’t be ruled out here and Wolves have only kept one clean sheet in their last 5 home games.
Therefore a Wolves win but both teams scoring is a distinct possibility and the hosts can be backed to win 3-1 at 12/1.
