Bluebirds can give Dragons food for thought

There is an all-Welsh tie in the last-16 of the Carabao Cup and it promises to be an intriguing clash between Wrexham and Cardiff on Tuesday.

These two swapped places at the end of the season and with the Red Dragons taking their time to get used to the highest level of the Championship and the Bluebirds at the top of League One, there looks to be little between the teams.

Cardiff suffered their first away defeat of the season on Saturday when they were beaten by a last-gasp goal at Bolton, and they should not be ruled out at the Racecourse Ground.

Don’t expect a glut of goals

It looks like being a season of consolidation at Wrexham after three succeessive promotions, but Phil Parkinson will take something from a hard-earned draw at Middlesbrough at the weekend.

Too many draws have stifled their early season progress, and they may not be able to get the better of Cardiff over 90 minutes.

Goals have been at a premium, so under 2.5 looks a sensible option with a 1-1 of potential interest for correct-score punters.
