Tip Reasoning

  • Wrexham are unbeaten at home in 2022
  • Stockport won the reverse fixture 2-1 in August
  • A point would go a long way to sealing the title for Stockport

Wrexham tough to beat at home

It’s a credit to the Wrexham players and staff to have made the National League title race as close as it currently is. Wrexham have really put it together in the second half of the National League season and can move level on points with long time league leaders Stockport with a win on Sunday. Phil Parkinson’s side have lost one of their last 19 matches and host Stockport on Sunday having not lost on home soil in 2022. Wrexham have two games left and a three-point gap, plus an inferior goal difference to overturn if they are to go up as champions.

County would settle for a point

Stockport have been comfortably the best team in the division since the arrival of Dave Challinor and had it not been for a minor slip in recent weeks, The Hatters would have won the league at a canter. A point on Sunday against their closest pursuers would all but seal the title for Stockport as it would mean they would require a single point from their remaining two fixtures against Torquay and Halifax. These two sides have met twice already this season – Stockport took out the reverse league fixture 2-1 back in August and should be more than capable of getting a result at The Racecourse.

Wrexham and Stockport are proving tough to split with both currently trading at 6/4 for Sunday’s game. Stockport would almost certainly settle for a point in their title quest and there is a distinct possibility this one ends all square; The Draw will be the main selection for this Sunday lunchtimes National League clash. In the correct score market, a chance can be taken on this finishing 1-1.
