York City vs Wigan Predictions
- Wigan have won just two of their last nine away from home.
- York have just one defeat in their last seven.
- York have scored in 22 of their last 24 games.
Cup magic from the Minstermen?
National League outfit York City entertain League One Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on Friday evening hoping to pull off an upset.
The Latics are the clearly favourites but it could pay to be bold and take a chance on York to either win or draw as they head into the game in solid form.
The Minstermen have lost just one of their last seven games and Wigan’s away form has been patchy. The North West outfit have only managed two wins in their last nine away from home, with four defeats, and that run includes a draw with fourth tier side Tranmere in the EFL Trophy and a stalemate with League One strugglers Cheltenham. Wigan have picked up some big wins on their travels but they tend to fare better against stronger opposition on the road – having won at the likes of Bolton and Derby this season – so York may be able to get a result here.
York should be fired up for this televised Friday night cup tie, so a small wager on the hosts to avoid defeat has a chance here.
The hosts have needed replays in both previous rounds of this competition and they may make it three in a row here. A 1-1 draw is the correct score prediction as York have scored in 22 of their last 24 games, while Wigan have scored in 11 consecutive games and have drawn their last three away from home – with two of those fixtures finishing 1-1.
