Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Chelsea have conceded just two goals in seven games under Graham Potter and have kept five successive clean sheets, while Manchester United have kept three clean sheets in a row. These sides have both seen fewer than three goals in each of their last three matches.

Draw 0-0

Reason for tip

Both Chelsea and Manchester United have been racking up the clean sheets of late but can struggle to break teams down. Chelsea played out a goalless draw in midweek and Manchester United did last weekend against Newcastle.

Chelsea vs Manchester United Predictions

  • Chelsea have kept five successive clean sheets and have conceded just two goals in their last seven.
  • Manchester United have kept three successive clean sheets.
  • Both of these teams have seen fewer than three goals in each of their last three matches.

Bees frustrate misfiring Chelsea strikers

Graham Potter’s unbeaten start to life at Stamford Bridge continued in midweek but travelling Blues fans will have been disappointing in the lack of final product their side showed, with a goalless draw leaving many frustrated.

While they struggled going forward, Chelsea’s continued stability at the back could be key as the season wears on. Their midweek draw made it five successive clean sheets for Potter’s side and they have conceded just twice in his seven games in charge so far.

Red Devils’ resurgence continues

Manchester United also managed a midweek clean sheet in arguably their best performance of the season as they dominated Tottenham, beating them 2-0 to make it five games unbeaten for Erik ten Hag.

Their last defeat was that 6-3 humbling at the Etihad even before that they were showing signs of an upward trajectory. That is their only defeat in their last eight Premier League games and they have beaten Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs in that run.

Goals at a premium at Stamford Bridge

That being said, ten Hag’s side have struggled to break down sides at times, including in their recent goalless draw against Newcastle and their 1-0 win over Omonia Nicosia. That, combined with Chelsea’s defensive form, hints at a low-scoring affair on Saturday.

Chelsea and Manchester United have eight clean sheets in their last ten combined games in all competitions and both teams have seen fewer than three goals in each of their last three matches, so I’m backing under 2.5 goals along with a repeat of Chelsea’s midweek goalless draw for my correct score prediction.
