Gazelec Ajaccio vs Guingamp Betting Tip

Gazelec Ajaccio haven’t picked up a win in five games since the calendar flipped to 2016 and they’ve lost three straight, including a pair of heavy defeats, 4-0 at the hands of Montpellier and 3-1 against Nantes, in their last two games. They are just one point clear of the relegation zone and badly need to open their 2016 account in the win column.

Guingamp’s fortunes in 2016 could hardly be more different. They started the year firmly in the bottom three, but an unbeaten five-game stretch, including an ongoing three-game winning streak, has seen them climb the table. They’ve still got plenty of work to do, but a 4-0 thrashing of Troyes and a 2-1 away win against Toulouse are especially valuable, almost as double point games.

Head-to-Head

This is the fourth clash of the season between these two teams, whose only two previous clashes had come in Ligue 2 during the 2012-13 season. Guingamp won an early Ligue 1 game 2-1, the teams then met in the Coupe de la Ligue, where penalties eventually sent Guingamp through. GFC Ajaccio took their chance to exact revenge though thrashing Guingamp 3-0 a couple of weeks ago in the Coupe de France.

Forward Gregory Pujol is likely to miss this game for an otherwise healthy Ajaccio, while Guingamp are likely to be without a trio of players, midfielders Mustapha Diallo and Nill de Pauw, and Jonathan Martins Pereira. The absence of Diallo is probably the biggest loss.

Reason for Betting Tips

Neither side can claim to be particularly good defensive team with 64 conceded between them already. GFC Ajaccio need a win pretty badly and surely have to go for it, which should dictate the terms of a pretty open game of football.
