      Stevenage vs Morecambe Predictions

Stevenage have had a mixed start to the season but have done relatively well in the league after two matches.

On opening day, Stevenage were part of an exciting 2-2 draw with Tranmere at home. The team would have been disappointed to lose a two-goal lead, especially after having a number of chances to extend the lead. However, after finishing the last 20 minutes with ten-men, they would have taken the draw.

Their second game away at Crawley was impressive, winning 3-1 against a quality side for that division. Although they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Norwich, they held on for a draw until the 83rd minute and can be relatively pleased with the start they have had, particularly in the league.

The most positive aspect of the start to the season has been the goals. The team have scored two or more goals in both their league matches, with veteran striker Alex Revell scoring two of those to win the match against Crawley. They press with real aggression and will be a real handful for teams across the division.

In contrast, Morecambe have lost all three of the matches they have played this season and look like certainties for relegation on current form.

In their first match, they were humbled 6-0 by a Crewe side not even fancied for promotion, in a game where they looked out of their depth and unprepared for the season. They improved somewhat in their second match at home against Exeter, where they lost 2-0 but the lack of goals and competitive will cause huge worry to manager Jim Bentley, who has been in charge for eight years and knows every year will be a struggle.

In midweek, the team scored their first goal of the season away at Preston in the Carabao Cup. The team lost 3-1 but this was expected of them and they must hope that striker Liam Mandeville can build on the goal he scored and grab a couple more this season.

Morecambe have conceded 11 times and scored only once in their first three league games and it could be a long season for them.

Indeed, whilst we think this match will be no different for Morecambe, coming up against an in-form Stevenage side. A bet of “Stevenage to Win and Over 2.5 goals” could be a winner, as it includes what could be a thrashing but also a tighter game, if Morecambe can build on the first goal of the season they scored against Preston. We are going to go for a tight match, with a final score of 3-1, as Morecambe will defend doggedly to try and get even a point back home, but it will ultimately be futile.
